Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a young girl of just five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and enrolled in an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor at age six. For several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing as well as dancing, and also acting. As early as age ten the actress took part in and performed the main role in numerous Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Casting agents found Emma by way of her Oxford theatre teacher. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. The highest-grossing movie of 2001, the film set records for its opening day revenue as well as opening weekend takings. The critics were impressed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma was awarded five nominations for her outstanding performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of a Film.
